Who these terms are with

GeoPursuit is operated by GeoPursuit, Sildgasse 1, 1210 Wien, Austria (see the Legal Notice), reachable at support@geopursuit.com. By playing, you agree to these terms.

The game

GeoPursuit is a geography game. You may play as a guest with a limited number of questions per day, create a free account for more, or subscribe for full access. What each tier includes is shown in the game and may change; we will not remove something you have already paid for during a period you have paid for.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Choose a display name that is not offensive, does not impersonate someone else and does not infringe anyone's rights. We may remove a name that does.

Fair play

Do not automate play, manipulate scores, or interfere with other players. We may suspend accounts that do, and remove scores obtained that way from the leaderboard.

Payment and cancellation

GeoPursuit is free to play. Premium is optional and adds ranked duels, eight-player royale, the avatar customiser and removal of advertising.

Three options are offered, in euro and including VAT where it applies:

• Monthly — €2.99, charged every month until cancelled.
• Yearly — €19.99, charged every year until cancelled.
• Lifetime — €49.99, charged once. No renewal.

Payment is processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own payment page and are never received or stored by us.

A monthly or yearly subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the price then shown, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and cancelling stops the next charge rather than the current period: Premium stays active until the period you have already paid for ends, and then the account returns to the free tier. Nothing is deleted — your progress, rating and history remain.

Lifetime Premium is a one-time purchase with no recurring charge. "Lifetime" means the lifetime of the GeoPursuit service, not the lifetime of the purchaser. It does not guarantee that GeoPursuit will operate indefinitely.

If we change the price of a subscription, we will tell you before the change takes effect and you may cancel before it does. A Lifetime purchase has no recurring charge and its price cannot be increased after purchase.

Your right of withdrawal

As a consumer in the EU you normally have fourteen days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content or a digital service, without giving a reason, subject to the exceptions provided by law.

Because Premium is made available immediately, we may ask you before payment to expressly request that access begins immediately and to acknowledge that this may result in the loss of your right of withdrawal once the legal requirements for this exception have been fulfilled.

The confirmation is a checkbox that you tick yourself; it is never pre-ticked. No purchase will be started without the required confirmation where applicable.

If the required consent and acknowledgement have not been given, we will not rely on the exception to the right of withdrawal.

Refunds

Separately from any statutory right, if something goes wrong — you were charged twice, the purchase did not unlock, or you bought the wrong thing — write to us and we will put it right. A refunded purchase ends the Premium it granted.

Advertising

The free tiers are supported by advertising from Google AdSense, shown only after you consent. Premium accounts see no ads. See the privacy policy for what this involves.

Content and licences

Historical place data comes from Pleiades (CC BY 3.0) and Cliopatria (CC BY 4.0). Earth imagery is NASA Blue Marble, public domain. Map data for the street layer is © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Everything else is ours.

Availability

We try to keep the game running but do not promise it will always be available. We may change, replace or discontinue individual features where reasonably necessary.

If we discontinue the service entirely, active monthly or yearly subscriptions will be refunded on a pro-rata basis for the unused part of the period already paid for.

If we permanently discontinue GeoPursuit as a whole, Lifetime Premium will end when the service ends. "Lifetime" means the lifetime of the GeoPursuit service and does not mean that the service is guaranteed to operate indefinitely.

Except where required by applicable law, permanently discontinuing GeoPursuit does not create an automatic entitlement to a refund of the original Lifetime purchase price. Any statutory rights you may have, including any mandatory rights concerning refunds or other remedies, remain unaffected.

Where reasonably practicable, we may provide Lifetime customers with advance notice of a permanent shutdown and may, at our discretion, offer a voluntary goodwill remedy such as a partial refund or alternative access. Any such goodwill remedy is voluntary and does not limit statutory rights.

Liability

We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of a material contractual duty — one whose performance makes playing GeoPursuit possible in the first place and on which you may reasonably rely — and in that case only for loss that was foreseeable at the time you started using the service. Liability under the Austrian Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) is unaffected. The game is provided as it is; we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Austrian law. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection given to you by mandatory provisions of the law of the country you live in.
